The Dennis Historical Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and has laid out a full year of interesting programs to celebrate. Its latest Newsletter contains a brochure listing 22 varied events, which can also be viewed on their website under Events. The Newsletter also has a brief article about an exclusive speakeasy, the Casa Madrid, which attracted well-heeled patrons to Bass River Village in the early 1930s.
The Fall 2012 newsletter of the Massachusetts Genealogical Council announces the annual seminar speaker and date: July 20, 2013, and the main speaker will be Judy G. Russell, the Legal Genealogist, who has a popular blog by that name.
The Essex Genealogist (Nov. 2012) based in Lynnfield MA contains an index of all surnames covered in 2012. An article entitled "Genealogy in your Pajamas" discusses the many online resources available to those with a Boston Public Library card. Am I the only one of us who has been meaning to get one? You can do it online here! but will need a paper card available at the BPL if you want to borrow. The article concentrates on what the BPL offers in their online resources, particularly what the History tab has to offer that can illuminate your understanding of what your ancestors' lives were like.
