The Education Committee of the Society has been busy offering several 3-part series of Genealogical Workshops for four different communities. The segments of the series includes a first session on general genealogical techniques (vital records, census, church records, cemeteries, land deeds, probate, standards of genealogical evidence, etc.); a second session on an in-depth discussion of Immigration to the USA and Migration patterns across the USA; and a third session on the varied computer software programs that are useful for genealogical record-keeping and on numerous techniques for effectively using the internet for family history research.
The series has been offered to the Harwich Newcomers, and the Chatham Library series. About to begin is a series for Provincetown, to be given at the Provincetown Monument meeting room (Mondays, April 25, May 9, and May 23, 1:30 to 3:30pm), and another series at the Sandwich Community Program (Mondays, May 2, May 16, and June 6, 4-6pm). Plans call for another offering of the series in October for the Nauset Newcomers in the Eastham area.
Anyone interested in enrolling in any of these series or having questions may contact David Martin at firstname.lastname@example.org; a small fee is required to cover the costs of materials duplication.
